 Lost Condition of Man

The first comparison is whether each individual is broken, bent, or really lost, running away from God and His rules:

Arminianism (ASTER)
Acknowledgment of man's spiritual inability or
the "Spiritual Enablement - The inability of man to exercise saving faith or do anything good without the enablement of the Holy Spirit." Armenian liberals of more recent date have concluded that all was not lost in the fall of man, and there is a divine spark resident in the Adamic nature, but the original position is stated first.

All that is found within the quotation marks for Arminianism are from James Hastings, ed., Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, (New York: Charles Scribner and Sons, 1926), Vol. 1, p. 808.

Calvinism (TULIP)
Total Depravity
"When man fell in the Garden of Eden he fell in his 'totality.' The whole personality of man has been affected by the Fall, and sin extends to the whole of the faculties - the will, the understanding, the affections and all else. Could the Word of God show more plainly than it does that the depravity is total? And that our inability to desire or procure salvation is also total? The picture is one of death - spiritual death. We are like Lazarus in his tomb; we are bound hand and foot; corruption has taken hold upon us. Just as there is no glimmer of life in the dead body of Lazarus, so there is no 'inner receptive spark' in our hearts."
Seaton, W. J., The Five Points of Calvinism, (Edinburgh: The Banner of Truth, 1970), pp. 5-17.

Fundamental Baptist Biblicism (LOTUS)
Lost condition of all mankind
Rom. 3:10: There is none righteous…; Rom.3:12: …there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Rom. 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom. 5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Psalms 51:5: Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Ecc. 7:20: For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Lost Condition of ALL MEN

I. Direct statements

1234 - from the Bible that state that each human being each person, is a sinner:
Gen. 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
I Kings 8:46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) …
Psalms 53:3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. [see Romans 3:10-12 ]
Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Matthew 15:18-20 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: …
John 3:17, 18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 2:12-15 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

II. Old Life
1234 - attitude and life of the sinner, before he/she had been saved, born-again

These Bible verses demonstrate what the unsaved sinner did and what their heart attitude was before he/she was saved:

Ephesians 2:1-3 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. [see Ephesians 2:5 and Colossians 2:13-14]
Colossians 3:5-7 [old life style] - Ephesains 5:3-5 - Ephesians 4:18, 19, 22
Romans 6:16-18
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Colossians 1:13-14 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
[II Timothy 2:24-26 - saved sinners reaching unbelieving sinners]
[I John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.]

III. Wrath Upon All Unbelievers:

Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Romans 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
I Thessalonians 2:14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
Revelation 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

IV. Wrath1 of God
1234 - Not applied to believers in Christ

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
I Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
I Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

V. Damnation2
1234 - a fact not popular, but a fact which God obviously thought was important to state.

Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation[2917].
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned[2632].
John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation[2920].

[Note: God's heart attitude is not desiring to condemn individual, but of seeking the individual, so he/she will be saved: John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

And it us up to the individual to see themselves as God sees them, to agree with what God sees; repent, believe the Gospel, and invite Jesus Christ into their lives to save them. It is the hardest decision to make, because we don't believe we are that bad, but we are. Only one of our sins condemns us, and only one call upon His name will save us, the decision to believe is up to us individually. God really wants us to be saved. ]

VI. Death Is The Result of Sin

There is physical death to every person, but the spiritual death is eternal separation from God.

1. The beginning of man's history states that mankind was warned of disobeying God - sin.
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

2. If a person sins, he/she will die.
Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:20 he soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell
Matthew 25:14 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
II Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Revelation 20:13-15 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
